Ministries of the Cathedral
#

Altar Servers
#

All young boys ages eight and up are encouraged to assist the Priest at the Altar during Divine Liturgy. Training is offered periodically throughout the year. For inquiry, please call the Cathedral Office at 718-624-7228.

Cathedral Choir
#

The Cathedral Choir (adult singers) consists of members of the parish who wish to donate their time and talent to the musical enrichment of the liturgy. The choir sings most major liturgies from the first Sunday of September through the last Sunday of June. Auditions are not required, but interest should be expressed to Ms. Christiane Merhej. The ability to read Arabic/Syriac is not required.

A Junior Choir is in the process of formation for children from age 8 through 16. Look for future notices.

Lectors
#

The Word of God is an essential part of our daily worship. Lectors are trained at various times during the year (to be announced) in both English and Arabic. If you are interested in serving in this ministry, please contact the Cathedral Office at 718-624-7228.

Ushers
#

The Ministry of Hospitality is an important element in welcoming the faithful to the Table of the Lord. The Knights of Saint Maron, our men’s organization, serve as our head ushers. Women and youth of the parish play an active role in ushering at special liturgies and events throughout the year. If interested, please contact the Cathedral Office at 718-624-7228.

Sacristans
#

The beauty and order of our historic Cathedral is maintained by the love and care of those who attend the altar by cleaning, decorating, and setting up the appointment of the various Feasts and Sacraments. Work as a Sacristan is open to all woman and men who feel called to this type of Ministry. Please call the Cathedral Office for additional information.

Pastoral Council
#

An elected and appointed body, the Pastoral Council advises and assists the Rector in the every-day running of the Cathedral Parish. Seven people make up the council in addition to the two appointed trustees, and five presidents / representatives of the Cathedral organizations. Elections take place in November for terms of one or two years. The terms begin in January following the election, and each member is limited to a total of two terms.

Finance Council
#

This council, made up of three members along with the two trustees, is appointed by the Rector as an advisory body to assist in the financial dealing of the Cathedral Parish. Terms of service are for two years.

Capital Campaign Committee
#

Our historic cathedral is in the process of a major restoration and renovation of all properties. Parishioners with architectural and/or engineering have been solicited for a two year study of all planning. A three-phase plan has been adopted and has commenced as of April, 2010. A 15-member board has been appointed to oversee this five-year project. Confraternity of the Immaculate Conception
#

This body has been the longest actively existing organization in the history of Our Lady of Lebanon. This organization is open to all women of the Cathedral Parish from the age of 25 and upward, and meet the first Sunday of each month, September through June, immediately following the 11: 00 a.m. Divine Liturgy. The work of the Confraternity focuses on the prayer life, education of our youth, and various social activities for all parishioners. Knights of Saint Maron
#

A men’s service organization, this body assists the clergy of the cathedral by assisting at various liturgies and activities. Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month from September through June with membership open to all from age 25 upward. Maronite Catholic Formation (MCF)
#

The Maronite Catholic Formation program at OLOL is provided for children from pre-K to High School. Classes are held at the Cathedral on Sundays from 10 am to 11:15 am. Christmas programs are also hosted by the MCF. All catechists and instructors are certified through the Virtus program, and are subject to criminal background checks as required by USCCB directives. Junior Maronite Youth Organization (Jr. MYO)
#

This group is used as a stepping stone between Primary and Junior High School, and is open to all youth in the fifth and sixth grades. Their focus is spiritual, educational, and cultural in nature, with emphasis on the socialization of student at this juncture. This is a new organization at the Cathedral and serves as a “feeder group” to the MYO as listed below. Maronite Youth Organization (MYO)
#

This Eparchial organization is open to all youth of the Cathedral from 7th grade through high school. Officers are elected at the first meeting in September for one-year terms. The principal focus of the MYO is spiritual, educational, and cultural in nature. Participation at local, regional, and national workshops/conferences is encouraged. Maronite Young Adults Organization (MYA)
#

Formerly known as the Cedars Organization, the Maronite Young Adults is open to all young men and women from freshman year of college to 30 years of age. This eparchial organization has as its primary directive the spiritual development of young men and women as they cope with the modern world. An annual leadership retreat is held each year in October in Florida for the purpose of training young leaders in our Maronite churches throughout our Eparchy. National Apostolate of Maronites (NAM)

This organization has as its Mission Statement the following: The National Apostolate of Maronites (NAM) serves as a unifying force among the laity of the Maronite Church in the U.S.A. and as a common link between the clergy and the laity. NAM helps preserve the Syriac-Maronite traditions by making people aware of the rich heritage of the Maronite faith and by fostering pride in the Maronite Church.
